WTI crude oil (XTI/USD) is West Texas Intermediate, the light, sweet crude that serves as the US oil benchmark. Its futures trade on NYMEX with delivery at Cushing, Oklahoma, and the XTI/USD price here is a spot quote that tracks them. Oil is one of the most traded commodities in the world, and WTI moves on OPEC+ supply decisions, US shale output, refinery demand and the summer driving season, as well as on geopolitical risk in the Middle East and Russia, Chinese demand and the strength of the US dollar. The biggest scheduled events are the weekly US inventory reports: the American Petroleum Institute figures on Tuesday afternoon and the official EIA Weekly Petroleum Status Report on Wednesday at 10:30 New York time. Moves of 2 percent or more in a day are common, far more than on the major currency pairs. On ForexR you can follow the live WTI price, use daily pivot points to frame support and resistance, size stops with ATR and confirm trend on the multi-timeframe chart.
