USD/SGD is the US dollar against the Singapore dollar, one of Asia's most liquid currencies and home to one of the world's largest FX trading centres. Singapore is unusual in that the Monetary Authority of Singapore runs monetary policy through the exchange rate rather than interest rates: it steers the Singapore dollar's trade-weighted value inside an undisclosed band and tightens or loosens by changing the band's slope, width or centre. MAS statements, published quarterly, are therefore the pair's key scheduled event, alongside Singapore inflation and growth data. Because the trade-weighted basket is dominated by the US dollar, yuan and other Asian currencies, the pair also tracks the broad dollar and China. Liquidity is best in the Asian and London sessions. On ForexR you can follow the live USD/SGD rate, read daily pivot points, gauge the typically orderly range with ATR and confirm bias on the multi-timeframe chart. Through the exchange rate. MAS manages the Singapore dollar against a trade-weighted basket of currencies within a policy band and adjusts the slope, width or centre of that band instead of setting a policy interest rate.
MAS policy statements, Singapore inflation and GDP, the broad US dollar trend, the Chinese yuan and regional risk sentiment, plus US data and Federal Reserve decisions.
The Asian session from about 01:00 UTC, when Singapore and Chinese data are released, through the London morning. The pair is quieter late in New York.
