What Is BoE decision?

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee sets Bank Rate eight times a year. The decision, the vote split and the minutes come out at 12:00 noon UK time; four times a year the Monetary Policy Report is published with it.

The vote split often matters as much as the decision: a closer vote than expected changes the outlook for the next meetings and moves the pound.

BoE decision FAQ

When is the next BoE decision release?

The next BoE decision release is scheduled for Thu 5 Nov 2026, 12:00 UTC. Dates come from the economic calendar and can change.

How much does GBP/USD move after BoE decision?

Over the last 8 releases, the typical move in GBP/USD one hour after BoE decision was 14.3 pips, and 47.4 pips after four hours (median sizes, either direction). The largest one-hour move was 44.5 pips on 18 Dec 2025. Past moves are not a forecast of the next release.

What does a figure above or below the estimate mean?

The estimate is the consensus of economists' forecasts before the release. Markets price in that number, so prices react mainly to the surprise: the gap between the actual figure and the estimate, and to revisions of earlier months, rather than to whether the figure is high or low.
