One third of the trade closes at each target, and the stop moves to the entry after target 1.
This is a market buy on GBP/USD, generated by a mechanical Bollinger Band fade strategy. The rule buys when the 1-hour price closes below the lower band (here, 1.34169) while the RSI is below 30 (reading 29.3). Higher timeframe trends are currently mixed, but price is dipping toward support at S2 (1.34087) and the 1.3400 round number. The stop loss at 1.33961 is logically tucked below these levels. Traders should note that this specific mechanical rule has a historically poor backtest record with a 0.8 profit factor.

Bollinger Band strategies are the second most starred family in our Pine library (99 scripts, 6,061 stars; for example Bollinger Bands Winner). On 1-hour bars, buy at market when price closes below the lower band (20, 2) with RSI 14 under 30, and sell when it closes above the upper band with RSI over 70. Stop 1.5 ATR, targets 1R, 2R and 3R; the rest closes back at the middle band.
Caveat: Average per trade across the 11 instruments tested (7 FX majors, gold, silver, Bitcoin, Ether), costs included. Lost in every year on average; positive on only 2 of 11 instruments (AUD/USD +0.04R). Not tested on WTI or the Nasdaq 100.
The idea, explained: Bollinger Bands
The strategy bought a 1-hour close below the Bollinger lower band with RSI at 29.3, expecting a mean-reversion bounce back toward the middle band. Instead price kept falling in a straight line to the stop with no meaningful bounce.

Filled 1.34157 at 07:02. Price dropped to 1.34018 by 07:00-07:05, chopped between 1.34019 and 1.34111 through 07:20 (the trade's high point, still below entry), then broke down again from 07:25, falling through 1.34023 and closing the 07:30 bar at 1.33954, triggering the stop at 1.33961 by 07:33.
The entry rested on a bounce off S2/1.3400 after an oversold RSI reading, but price never traded back above the entry price and broke cleanly through S2 (1.34087) and the 1.3400 round number without pause, showing the support/oversold read did not hold.
Lesson: Both headlines flagged NFP as the dominant risk for GBP/USD that session; a mechanical oversold-fade entry taken without checking for a major scheduled release ahead is exposed to a trend continuation move the RSI reading can't anticipate.

Its rule was not profitable after costs in every period we tested.
Intraday trade, not a scalping or news trade.
No high-impact release was due while the order waits or in its first 4 hours.
The spread is a small share of the stop distance (under 10%).
High Risk means at least one check flagged this trade. Size it smaller, or skip it if you only follow Cautious signals. This signal was published before risk tags existed; its tag was added afterwards, from the facts at its publish time.
The mechanical Bollinger Band fade strategy has a historically poor backtest record with consistent losses, keeping confidence low despite sensible stop placement.
Signals scored 40-49 have won 49% of 47 closed.
Confidence is a score from 0 to 100 given by an AI model. It is checked against how signals in the same band really ended, so treat the measured rate as the evidence, not the score. Reading a track record
