NZD/JPY pairs the New Zealand dollar with the Japanese yen and is a textbook carry-trade cross: the Reserve Bank of New Zealand has typically run far higher rates than the Bank of Japan, so the pair tends to climb steadily when markets are calm and drop fast when risk appetite disappears and carry positions are unwound. Kiwi drivers include RBNZ decisions, dairy prices and Chinese demand; the yen leg moves on BoJ policy, US Treasury yields and any hint of Japanese intervention. The pair is most active in the Wellington and Tokyo hours and again during London. On ForexR you can follow the live NZD/JPY rate, use daily pivot points to mark levels, respect its volatility with ATR-based stops and confirm the trend on the multi-timeframe chart. The RBNZ-BoJ rate gap and global risk appetite above all. RBNZ decisions, dairy auctions and Chinese data move the kiwi; BoJ policy, US yields and intervention talk move the yen.
Traders borrow the low-yielding yen to hold the higher-yielding kiwi and earn the rate difference. That flow supports the pair in calm markets but reverses violently when risk sentiment turns.
