AUD/CAD sets the Australian dollar against the Canadian dollar, two commodity currencies whose economies export very different things. The Aussie follows iron ore, coal and Chinese demand; the loonie follows crude oil and the US economy. Because both currencies rise and fall with global growth, much of that shared risk factor cancels out and the pair often trades in ranges, breaking out when the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Bank of Canada diverge or when oil and metals move in opposite directions. It is active during the Sydney session and again through New York when Canadian data lands. On ForexR you can follow the live AUD/CAD rate, use daily pivot points to trade its ranges, gauge the typically moderate volatility with ATR and confirm bias on the multi-timeframe chart. The RBA-BoC policy gap, the relative performance of iron ore and oil, Chinese data for the Aussie and US data for the loonie.
Both currencies are commodity exporters that strengthen when global growth is strong and weaken when it slows, so broad risk moves largely offset. Trends need a policy split or a divergence between metals and oil.
Australian releases at 11:30 Sydney time (00:30-01:30 UTC) and the New York session from 8:30 New York time, when Canadian and US data are published. The London session is steadier.
