Compare the best forex brokers for Nigerian traders on regulation, naira funding, platforms, minimum deposits and spreads.
Accounts sit with Kohle Capital Markets Ltd, regulated by the Mauritius FSC.
Nigeria is absent from Pepperstone's restricted-country list and Nigeria-focused reviews report acceptance via an offshore group entity; no naira funding method appears on its Africa funding page.
A Nigeria-focused 2026 review reports onboarding through FP Markets' St Vincent and the Grenadines entity, with naira bank transfers converted to USD, EUR, GBP or AUD; not confirmed on FP Markets' own site.
A Nigeria-focused 2026 review reports acceptance through FxPro Global Markets Ltd (Securities Commission of The Bahamas) with local bank transfer funding; FxPro's own site was not reachable.
AvaTrade operates a dedicated Nigerian domain, avatrade.ng; accounts are in USD, EUR or GBP only, and secondary sources conflict on whether local naira bank transfers are offered.
IC's global site, run by Raw Trading Ltd (Seychelles FSA), restricts only the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Iran and North Korea, so Nigeria is not excluded; no Nigeria page or naira funding was verified.
Nigeria is not among Tickmill's excluded jurisdictions, and a 2026 Nigeria review reports onboarding via Tickmill Ltd (Seychelles) with no NGN accounts or naira deposit options.
Admirals announced a Nigeria office in May 2023 to serve Nigerian traders; the retail site was unreachable, so the onboarding entity and funding methods are unverified.
Nigeria-focused reviews report that XM accepts Nigerians and takes naira deposits by local bank transfer, converted to the account base currency; XM's own site blocked our checks.
Exness publishes a help-centre guide to online bank transfer deposits and withdrawals in Nigeria with NGN as the currency of operation; clients are served by an offshore Exness entity.

Nigeria's retail forex market is in the middle of a legal change. The Investments and Securities Act 2025 brought online forex trading platforms under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC Nigeria), and on 1 September 2026 the SEC exposed draft Rules on Online Forex Trading and CFDs. As of 21 September 2026 those rules are still a draft, so no retail forex or CFD licensing regime is operating yet.
Of the 20 brokers in our broker comparison, 10 accept Nigerian residents with high or medium confidence. Every one serves Nigerians through an offshore entity, so the ranking rests on regulation held elsewhere, naira funding, entry cost and swap-free accounts. KCM Trade, our Editor's choice, is ranked first.
IG, CMC Markets, FOREX.com and Swissquote, which we could not confirm either way, are listed further down as not verified, together with brokers from our wider directory.
The SEC has stated that, under the Investments and Securities Act 2025, it is an offence for any entity not registered with the Commission to carry on the business of an online foreign exchange trading platform in Nigeria. Its statements are aimed at operators rather than individual traders.
The draft rules exposed on 1 September 2026 are not final. They include:
The CBN regulates the official FX market, banks and bureaux de change; it does not license retail CFD brokers. We found no evidence that any of the 20 brokers in our database holds an SEC registration. A Nigerian resident using one deals with an offshore entity the SEC does not supervise, so the SEC is not in a position to help recover money from it.
SEC Nigeria publishes public notices rather than a consolidated warning list, and the notices we reviewed name no brokers. Registration can be checked on the SEC Nigeria website. See also our guide to forex scams.
The naira rails found in our research are online or local bank transfer in NGN, NGN-denominated trading accounts at a few brokers, and Visa or Mastercard. USSD, Paystack and Flutterwave funding could not be verified on any broker's own pages.
Pepperstone's Africa funding page shows no naira method, a 2026 review reports none at Tickmill, and sources conflict on AvaTrade. For IC Markets and Admirals we could not confirm one. Where a deposit is converted, the rate applied is part of the cost; the currency converter shows the market rate.
With no Nigerian licence to check, the comparison turns on who holds the account and what that entity offers. Our guide on how to choose a forex broker covers the general tests.
After KCM Trade, our Editor's choice, brokers are placed by the same checks, in this order: a licence from the local regulator where Nigeria issues one and the licensed entity is the one that serves local clients, depth of regulation (tier-1 and offshore licences both count), funding methods that work from Nigeria, a local-language site or support desk, the cost of getting started (minimum deposit and typical spread), and swap-free accounts where traders commonly ask for them. The order is an editorial judgement, not a computed score.
Apart from KCM Trade, a broker is ranked among the verified brokers only when we could confirm, from its own website or the local regulator's register, that it opens accounts for residents of Nigeria. KCM Trade's availability in Nigeria was checked the same way. The 42 brokers marked Not verified follow them: we could not confirm from their own websites that they accept residents of Nigeria, most come from our wider broker directory, and their figures are indicative until we check them. Spreads, deposits and leverage are the same figures shown on our full broker comparison; leverage and protections depend on which of the broker's entities holds your account. Broker links may be partner links that earn ForexR a commission at no extra cost to you.
Data last reviewed: September 2026. Availability, funding methods and rules change; confirm them on the broker's own website and with SEC Nigeria before you open an account. This page is general information, not financial, legal or tax advice. CFDs and leveraged forex are complex instruments with a high risk of losing money rapidly.
The Investments and Securities Act 2025 placed online forex trading platforms under SEC Nigeria, which says it is an offence for an unregistered entity to run one in Nigeria. Its statements are aimed at operators rather than individual traders. Draft licensing rules were exposed on 1 September 2026 and are not final.
We found no evidence that any of the 20 brokers in our database holds an SEC Nigeria registration. All 10 ranked here serve Nigerians through offshore entities. Registration can be checked at sec.gov.ng/cmos.
Exness publishes a guide to online bank transfer in NGN and is reported to support NGN accounts. XM, FP Markets and FxPro are reported to support local bank transfer, converted to the account currency. We could not verify USSD, Paystack or Flutterwave funding.
IC Markets lists no minimum. XM lists $5, Pepperstone and Exness $10, and FP Markets about $70. AvaTrade, FxPro, Tickmill and Admirals list $100, and KCM Trade lists $1,000. These are US dollar figures; the naira amount depends on the conversion rate applied.
Our research did not establish how Nigerian tax law treats retail forex or CFD profits. Rules vary with personal circumstances, so this is a question for a local tax adviser.
Not by Nigerian rules. No ranked broker is registered with SEC Nigeria, and the SEC does not supervise the offshore entity holding the account. The draft rules would require segregated client money in CBN-licensed banks, but they are not in force.
