Overview
A spring is a high-volume bar that dips below the recent range low, closes back above it and closes up. An upthrust is the mirrored move above the range high. A range counts as consolidation when its height is small relative to ATR. Stops sit a half ATR beyond the bar extreme, and targets lie beyond the opposite range edge. Size is 10 percent of equity. It plots the range on the chart.
