Overview

Moving Average Convergence Divergence subtracts a slow moving average of the source from a fast one, then smooths that difference into a signal line and draws the gap as a histogram. Fast and slow lengths, source, signal length, and SMA or EMA choices for both the oscillator and the signal change the calculation. Histogram colors show whether the histogram is rising or falling above or below zero. It does not generate trade entries or exits.
